Water System Flushing Procedure

To maintain proper water quality it is necessary to bleed the water system a minimum of twice per year.  This is normally done the first Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October of each year from 1PM to 4PM unless the temperature is below 45º.  Signs will be placed at all entrances to the subdivision to remind the residents that the system is being flushed. While the system is being flushed, you will want to refrain from doing any laundry.

After 4PM, the flushing should be done.  It will be necessary at that time for all residents on the water system to bleed their house systems.  Begin by turning on your outside faucets until they run clear, then move to the inside selecting the faucet farthest away from where the water enters your house. Turn it on until the water runs clear.  Continue with each faucet in the house.  When you are finished with the faucets, you may want to flush all the toilets in the house.  Make sure you run your washer through one full cycle once with no clothes to flush it as well.
